The JU-ICE-IT Story

Juliet Mellor

Hi, I’m Juliet and I founded JU-ICE-It in 2015 after a truly life-changing experience.

All my life I have lived what I considered to be a relatively healthy lifestyle. I’m a hairdresser by trade and still own and work in my salon. So not only was I on my feet most of the day, but I was always going for a run or to the gym and eating foods that I thought were good for me – give or take a few indulgences here and there!

In 2010, I got diagnosed with palindromic rheumatism, which could also progress to rheumatoid arthritis. I was experiencing intense pain in my right arm, both hands and even my jaw. The GP prescribed me medication that put me into a state of remission, but I had to give up running, and took up cycling to fill my time instead.

Other than that, I had made no other changes in my life.

Then one day, I saw a friend who had just come back from one of Jason Vale’s retreats. She looked absolutely fantastic; slimmer frame, bright eyes, glowing skin, the lot. I wanted what she had.

I’d also started to take cycling seriously and had signed myself up for L’Etape du Tour. I had no idea how big an event it actually was (it was the same route that the pros do during the Tour de France) and realised that I should probably lose some weight to make myself fitter and more agile.

This retreat was just what I needed, so as a treat to myself, I went to Juicy Oasis in Portugal for my 50th birthday. It was pure bliss – beautiful countryside, blue skies, a relaxing spa and refreshing pool.

What’s more though, it ended up being 7 days that totally changed my life. By day I would be juicing and taking part in the huge range of activities on offer, from swimming and walking to working out in the gym. By night, I was reading, watching and learning about food and nutrition.

I was completely amazed by what I was hearing. Why didn’t I know any of this already? How had I lived such a sheltered life when it came to understanding what was healthy and what wasn’t? I realised then that my diet had made the inflammation worse and hadn’t helped the palindromic rheumatism at all. I committed to making a change right away.

By the time I got home (8lbs lighter and feeling incredible), parcels were piled high in the back room at the salon full of recipe and nutrition books, a juicer and ingredients. I emptied my cupboards of all the processed foods and sugar, that in my previous life I had thought to be healthy, and set about on my juicing journey.

And I got my medal for successfully completing L’Etape du Tour!

All my customers commented on how great I looked and naturally, I told them what I had been doing. As the word started to spread, I was being asked to make other people juices and a lightbulb went off in my head.

This is something I love doing, I truly believe in it and I’m passionate about helping others to understand and feel the benefits too. Why not start up a juicing business on the side?

So I enrolled with the Juice Academy and became a qualified natural juice therapist. The rest, as they say, is history.

Now, not only am I the same weight as I was when I was in my 20s, but I suffer from no inflammation, am drug-free and I’ve never felt better.

I really understand the true nutritional value of food, how an increase in the right vitamins and minerals can have multiple health benefits in addition to weight management, and most of all, I love sharing this information with others. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy the odd cake, glass of wine and takeaway, and you can too, but if you think you’re living a healthy lifestyle, then it may be time to think again.

I encourage you to try juicing and join me on one of my workshops to discover how you can change your life for the better, just like myself and so many of my customers.

Happy juicing!
